Washington, DC

Rhodeside Harwell

The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the national museum of modern and contemporary art located on the National Mall in Washington DC, is part of the Smithsonian Institution. Built and opened in 1974, the museum’s sunken sculpture garden has experienced critical infrastructure issues including flooding and deterioration of perimeter walls. Pine & Swallow is providing horticultural soils consulting including design of soil blends to support the planting plan, including planting beds over-structure. Pine & Swallow also led an existing soils and drainage investigation to address drainage issues in the garden.
