The challenges presented at this location included shallow saline groundwater fluctuating with tides, poor subsurface drainage, and saltwater storm flooding. Pine & Swallow designed soils and drainage strategies that helped to transform the site into an inviting and engaging public space. The Boston Children’s Museum continues to be a popular tourist destination along the waterfront of Fort Point Channel, adjacent to the city’s Harborwalk.
